Stephenie Meyer discusses Edward’s flaws

Photobucket

Many of you would disagree with Stephenie Meyer’s assessment that the dreamy Edward Cullen has any faults, but Steph says she believes he has flaws. Here is what she said at the fan junket in June. Hear the audio of this discussion at Twifans:
TST: With your characters — do they run the show or do you run the show?

SM: This is something I’ve learned. People think you’re crazy when you tell the truth on this question. But, writers don’t think you’re crazy, because they understand. The characters run the show. Because once you create a character, it’s who they are. Sure, there are certain things they can’t do. Certain things they can’t say; it’s not in character. I had that problem with Edward a lot. In the beginning he was a really, a very strong character. New Moon came about because of his character. I did not want to write him going away, that was not very much fun, but if he hadn’t done that, how could he say he tried everything? He didn’t try everything to save her, if he hadn’t gone away. So that whole book revolved around his (Edward’s) iron nature that he had, that I could not get around. I could not just make him…he was so loathed to destroy her life. There was no way that he was gonna “okay, you’re right. We’ll just hang out.” He’s also such a know-it-all. Bella’s trying to tell him “look, this is something different than we think it is” and he’s “no, I know better….I’m a 110.” He’s kind-of a brat sometimes. It’s so funny when people think I have constructed (in a negative way) my idea of the perfect man and how flawless he is. No, he’s very flawed. I’m well aware of that. And he’s lived in this world where rules don’t apply to him. He does stuff that is over the line for a human person. But he is a vampire and can fool a lot of people. So going into someone’s room at night isn’t that bad, in comparison. And the rules don’t apply to him; he does all kinds of really shallow stuff. But I still like him.

Robert Pattinson's Hair Stolen!

Svensk översättning i slutet

Robert Pattinson is reportedly worried his trademark locks will end up in an auction after some of his hair was stolen.

The Twilight actor, who is famous for his signature floppy brown hair which has won him an army of teenage female fans recently cut his hair for a new film role but was left 'devastated' when some of his freshly chopped hair myseriously disappeared.

A source explained: “Robert has had his hair cut short for a movie role but his discarded hair has gone missing,”

They added: “Someone collected it and Rob is concerned it will end up in some tacky auction. It's probably about the most valuable hair in showbiz!”

The 24-year old heartthrob who stars as vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight saga is thought to have had his hair cut for his latest role as a student in new film Water For Elephants.

His new style has caused a stir amongst Twihard R-Pattz fans after reports of his new hair cut hit the internet.

Pattinson was even asked about his new hair in an interview with chat show host Ellen DeGeneres where he claimed he was amazed at the attention his new style had received.

He later joked with the American Idol judge that he was forced to have his hair cut because: “I got a terrible infestation of nits and I had to shave it all off,”

The Sexiest Women of Summer Movies 2010: Kristen Stewart & Nikki Reed

Kristen Stewart - 'Twilight: Eclipse'

She Plays: Bella Swan, the teenage girl lucky enough to win the affections of sexy vampire Edward Cullen.

Where Else You've Seen Her: As Joan Jett in 'The Runaways' and in the other 'Twilight' saga movies.

Why She's Hot: Kristen doesn't fit the textbook "hot Hollywood actress" template, and that's what makes her so attractive -- and it's probably the reason Edward and Jacob continually fight over her in 'Eclipse.' She's subtle, not overly flashy or flirty, and has a dark, slightly sourpuss edge to her. Plus, if you saw 'Adventureland,' you no doubt have a crush on her like we do.

Nikki Reed - 'Chain Letter'

She Plays: Jessie, a teen who becomes the target of a maniac killer after not forwarding a text and email chain letter; she also reprises her role as Rosalie in 'Eclipse.'

Where Else You've Seen Her: In the rest of the 'Twilight' movies, as well as 'The O.C.,' where she played Sadie.

Why She's Hot: Every horror movie needs a hot chick, but Nikki Reed, though foxy, is more than that. She wrote her debut film 'Thirteen' when she was just a young teen, showcasing her bad-girl, troubled past. Hot. Now, Reed plays a classier character: Rosalie Hale, the snobby beautiful vampire in the 'Twilight' saga; and she gets to play sexy again in the scary 'Chain Letter.' Reed's dark skin, long unruly hair and endless legs make her a definite standout for the summer.

As 'Eclipse' Draws Closer, How Do Real-Life Edward Cullens Stack Up?

As 'Twilight' fans have long known, Edward Cullen is the sexy (if not a little pasty) hero of the mega-movie franchise based on Stephenie Meyer's book series. Pale, strong, devoted and ready to save the moody Bella at any given second, Edward is a god -- or rather, a vampire -- among men who's awesomeness is matched only by 'Twilight''s resident werewolf, Jacob.

Since 'Twilight' made its debut in 2008, the movie's stars have themselves achieved cult status. Taylor Lautner scored a Rolling Stone cover and Kristen Stewart's pouty pics have become all the more frequent in celebrity rags. But it's fluffy-haired Robert Pattinson who leads the pack as the vampire heartthrob, garnering increasing numbers of lovelorn fans as he practically inhabits the ageless Edward, complete with inner torture, unwavering commitment, a cool, rock-star demeanor and alluring deep thoughts; Pattinson's portrayal is now synonymous with the fictional Edward Cullen.

It may come as a shock for some fans, but not every Edward Cullen can kill with his teeth, fly without a plane ticket or create such a fabulous coif. There's a whole pack of real-life guys who share the character's name -- and manage their parallel reputations. As the saga's third installment, 'Eclipse,' nears release (the film is set to arrive June 30), Moviefone looked to a handful of real Edward Cullens (via e-mail) to see what it's like to be a mere mortal with a world-famous vampire's name.

Dangerous to Kiss Robert Pattinson

Dangerous Kiss

The delight of fans, Robert Pattinson makes a cinema owner, very worried.

Crewe, England - A few weeks ago Mandy Taylor had a wild drive in their "Reel Cinema" watched in the British town of Crewe, the 35-year-old director began to make slow worries. Every day hordes of teenagers descended on the "Twiligth" - cardboard cutout of Robert Pattinson, who plays the sexy vampire Edward in the movie. The cardboard Pattinson was hugged and kissed, kissed, kissed. But what if one of these fans would be infected with swine flu, said Mandy Taylor. The virus could still survive up to 24 hours in the air. "We then have a sign hung on the preparers," said Mandy.

"Please help reduce the spread of Germs, by refraining from giving Edward, or any other charachter for that matter,a kiss or hug" is to be read there (small photo) . "But mainly Edward!", Including a fan scribbling - and wanted to say: "Who is interested in the other characters?"
