Twilight actor Robert Pattinson showed off his new buzzed hairdo on The Ellen Degeneres Show on Wednesday and said he chopped off his signature tousled hair earlier this week for a movie he is set to star in called Water for Elephants, which features actress Reese Witherspoon.

"It's three days old. I got a terrible infestation of nits and I had to shave it all off," he joked, before admitting it was done for the film.

"Nits" is a common British English term for head lice. Water for Elephants tells of a veterinary student who quits school to work for a circus. The film also stars Christoph Waltz from Inglourious Basterds and is set to be released in 2011.
