Peter Facinelli Explains Why ‘Eclipse’ is His Fave ‘Twilight’ Book Filed under ( Eclipse, Peter Facinelli )

With New Moon fever now safely in the past (at least until the DVD comes out), Twilight fans have to whet their appetite with occasional bits of information about the next film in the saga, Eclipse. And today, Peter Facinelli, who plays Carlisle, the patriarch of the vampiric Cullen family, in the films, talked about what fans can expect from his character in this third installment — and why it’s his favorite of the best selling books.


“What I like about the third movie is you get to see a side of Carlisle you haven’t seen before,” Peter said at a press event to promote his other high-profile project, Showtime’s Nurse Jackie. “You actually get to see what his vampire capabilities are because there’s some great battle sequences. It’s my favorite book.”
“Carlisle is holding on to that humanity,” he explained. “He doesn’t want to be a vampire.”
As for when they’re going to start work on Breaking Dawn, the final book in the series — which, it’s been reported, could ultimately be made into two films — Peter is as clueless as anyone. “Usually the fans know before I do,” he confessed with a laugh. “I’m sure I’ll see it on the Internet.”
For Peter, whose wife is 90210 star Jennie Garth, shooting both Eclipse and the second season of Nurse Jackie was a enlivening experience, especially for his hair.
“I wore a wig,” he revealed, explaining how he was able to switch between Carlisle’s frighteningly pale ‘do and the natural hair color he sports as Dr. Fitch Cooper. “There were days when I was literally running for hours in the forest and then I’d jump on a plane and then I’d be on the Nurse Jackie set. I was going from Vancouver to New York every three days. For me, it was really invigorating.”
Now that he’s got a few days of free time, Peter is having fun on Twitter, where he’s up to 1.5 million followers.
“I enjoy what Twitter is because I can really connect with the fans and it’s a great way to share information with them and it’s also a great way to entertain,” he said. “I like being able to put a smile on people’s faces and letting them know what I’m doing.”
One thing Peter made clear is that he’ll never use his Twitter account to sell things. “I like to keep my Twitter pure. I don’t want to sell my followers anything.”
